About The Event

Vestmannaeyjar! Kizomba is coming to you!

This beginner workshop is a progressive course in 6 hours over a weekend, that will provide you with a strong understanding of the basic fundamentals of Kizomba. We will also explore the history and origins of the music and dance, to build our understanding as a whole.

Kizomba comes from Angola, means “party”, and have been taking the world by storm in the last few years as a romantic music that catches the ear and as a sensual dance that captivates the soul. Kizomba, which was derived from Semba, has taken on many influences and allows each dancer to develop their own style based on their own dance backgrounds and preferences.

Anaïs and Georg created “Kizomba is Icelandic!” in Reykjavik, in 2015 and have been building and expensing the Kizomba culture in the capital since then.

In this workshop, we will follow up:

- Foundations,

- Grounding,

- Travelling,

- Technique,

- Connection,

- Musicality,

- Lead for men,

- Follow for women.

And FUN!

We will split the weekend in 3 hours on saturday and 3 hours on sunday.

5 hours will be dedicated to your learning of fundamentals in Kizomba. Then we will have 1 hour of social dancing in a friendly environment to practise what you have learnt.

On Saturday night we will have a social dance Kizomba night to meet and enjoy some dances together.

Any struggling and confused beginners welcome!

Anyone who wants to review their basics welcome!
